Why Democrats Lose

Why Democrats Lose

Warning: you are not going to like what I have to say here.

If liberals are so fuckin' smart, how come they lose so goddamn always?

Quoted from: HBO’s “The Newsroom”

Democrats in the U.S. lose and lose spectacularly because they are cowards. I say that as a registered Democrat who would vote for Joe Biden’s brain in a jar over Donald Trump without hesitation.

Let me give you two examples. The “withdrawal” from Afghanistan, and the lack of action on expanding the Supreme Court.

The Afghanistan Withdrawal

Unfortunately, sometimes something is true even if Donald Trump says it.

In the case of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan Trump said it was “the most embarrassing day in the history of our countries life.” (Actual quote from the debate)

Watching C-130’s taking off from the airbase in Kabul with people clinging to the wings and hull, falling hundreds of feet to their deaths as the jet became airborne is a sight that has been etched into the collective memory of the entire world, probably forever.

It was an embarrassment of the highest order, and it rightly made all of our enemies and allies wonder just how reliable of a partner the U.S. really is.

More than any of Trumps rhetoric about withdrawing from NATO, this scene of Americans retreating from Afghanistan is actual real world evidence of how we treat our allies, and it happened because the United States is managed by cowards.

Seriously think about that for a minute - Donald Trump talks about abandoning our Allies, Joe Biden actually did. A non-treaty Ally, but an Ally all the same.

President Biden should never have honored the deal that Trump brokered with the Taliban. Trump negotiated that deal with terrorists and the Saudi Royal family (basically the same thing) while leaving the elected government of Afghanistan out of the discussions. In any sane world, where people value democracy a deal like that would be null and void. Apparently, “we don’t negotiate with terrorists”, isn’t really something either party takes seriously anymore.

Why President Biden felt a deal like that had any validity is beyond me. What he should’ve done is rip it up in the faces of the Taliban leadership. If he wanted a path out of Afghanistan then he should’ve done it responsibly and created a withdrawal plan with the actual government that was elected by the people of Afghanistan.

I know that is easier said than done, but I also don't care, you don't just abandon people when pieces of shit like the Taliban are a heart beat away from taking over. Especially, not when the entire reason you were there in the first place was to get rid of the Taliban.

We owed it to the people of Afghanistan to not abandon them after so many of them risked their lives and the lives of those they care about to secure a better future for their country.

We failed them in the most awful way, everyone knows it, and it happened on our watch full stop.

Not Expanding the Court

When Mitch McConnell blocked President Obama from appointing a Supreme Court Justice in his last term in office everyone knew it was a maneuver to politicize the court.

That maneuver, should’ve been answered in kind by expanding the Court to at least 13 members. And it should’ve happened with a sense of urgency.

But Democrats in their fear of anything that even resembles political action left the court just as they found it. They are more content to blame Republican’s than they are to actually do something to try to fix it.

I get that pointing fingers is fun, I’m doing it right now - but it’s never going to accomplish anything. Instead of crying about how unfair it is that Trump got 3 nominations for the court, do something about it, expand the fucking court - to hell with what the talking heads on TV will say about it.

The horrific rulings coming out of this court are just as much the fault of Democrats for not packing the court when they had the chance, as they are the Republican’s who poisoned it in the first place.

As the eloquent “V” in “V for Vendetta” put it:

Truth be told, if you are looking for the guilty. You need only to look into a mirror.

We will keep on losing unless we man up

One party whose name starts with an R is hell bent on destroying everything the United States has stood for since the end of World War 2 and they are happy to do whatever it takes to get there.

The other party which fittingly has a Jack Ass as its logo is paralyzed by its fear of being called partisan and would rather point fingers than take action.
